I’ve talked a lot about being out in the sun among the trees etc, but that is hard to do when you’re inside your studio working all the time. I took to plein air painting because it allows me to go outside, and honestly, I like outside a lot better than inside! It forces me to work fast, really think about composition, color, shadows etc. It allows me to interact with people who are also out and about, sort of an immediate feedback loop on whatever I am working.
While plein air painting is supposed to capture an impression of the area, the light, the environment etc., my big draw to this is that it makes me feel like a child. I’m caught in the wonder of the moment, and I play in it.
Please contact me if you’re interested in commissioning a painting, or if you see something on my galleries that you would like to own.
